They start the trailer with the institutions, same as all the trailers I have looked at, and then goes onto a clip of the film showing the very light-hearted comedy and nature of this high school rom-com. There is no music so that audience focuses on the dialogue being spoken.
Although there is writing on the screen flicking from ten - zero, relating to the title, this isn't a technique we are going to use.
After the writing the trailer continues this time supported by a non-digetic, soundtrack of up beat, rock music. This relates to the themes of rebellious teenagers, trying to find their own feet at an influencial high school! The edits are, like dumb and dumberer, very short, fast constantly moving and overlapping each other, dialogue spoken and overlapped in other shots is all comic dialogue.
There is a voice over, in the same thick american accent (as always!) narrating what the film consists of.
the soundtrack continues, throughout the trailer similar to all trailers I have analysed.
There are different shots, locations and times, varying froma close-up in the dark, to a long shot on the school 'stadium' seats, the images you see are constantly changing which keep the audience interested and guessing.
to be continued
